HARTFORD HOSPITAL FELLOWSHIP:

Hyperbaric Medicine/Wound Care Fellow

A one-year fellowship in clinical wound care and hyperbaric medicine is available at Hartford Hospital. Hartford Hospital houses the largest multi-place hyperbaric oxygen chamber in New England and supports The Center for Wound Healing. The program meets all requirements for residency education, as stipulated by the Graduate Medical Education Directory 2003-2004, page 321.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Program is associated with the ACGME accredited residency training programs in Surgery and Emergency Medicine. The program is a part of the Emergency Medicine/Trauma Program, which is responsible for training fellows in Trauma Surgery and research. The Fellowship is open to any physician eligible for credentialing through the Connecticut State Medical Board of Examiners, is actively enrolled in an approved residency-training program in the United States and is either board certified or board eligible in a recognized medical specialty as approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Fellow will be involved in all aspects of care delivered within our center, ranging from providing outpatient wound care, to phone consultations requesting hyperbaric oxygen therapy, to providing emergent and critical care for patients receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy. There is ample opportunity to extend beyond one year in associated fellowships in Trauma, Critical Care and/or Research.
