Update: "Planned Systematic Reviw Protocol" (pdf)

Carbon Monoxide Surveillance Project

The UHMS has teamed with the CDC to collect information on carbon monoxide poisoning in the US.  The CDC has placed an increased emphasis on prevention of CO poisoning and needs nationwide data for development of effective prevention programs.  A simple online survey is accessed through the internet to collect nonidentifiable information about cases of CO poisoning treated in UHMS-affiliated hyperbaric facilities.  Disease surveillance also identifies outbreaks, allowing the CDC to intervene with active prevention measures.

The project has been in effect since August 2008.  Over 3 years, we are hope to collect information on 3,000 treated cases.  The survey will be accessed via a link on the UHMS homepage. Data can be entered while the patient is in the chamber and takes about 5 minutes.

This has been a great opportunity for the UHMS to gain visibility through teaming with the CDC.  If you would like to participate, go to the URL below to enroll your facility.  You will receive a Starbucks gift card for enrolling.  In addition, the person submitting the data on each case is sent another gift card.    You will also receive a periodic summary of you own facility's data.
