  • Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the HTC Medical Director, assists in program development, provision of medical care, education of medical students, residents, other paraprofessional personnel, and research; maintains standards established by the Center; interfaces with the medical community; participates in physician on-call responsibilities for continuous 24hr/day, year round schedule to provide emergency hyperbaric services for both diving decompression illnesses (bends) and cases amendable to hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education/Training Minimum: • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited college or university • Current or eligible for a State of Hawaii M.D. or D.O. license. • Board certification in a related field, such as Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine. • Training in undersea hyperbaric medicine. • Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS), Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). • Eligible for appointment to the faculty of the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. Preferred: • Fellowship training in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. • Board Certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Experience Minimum: • Four (4) years of clinical experience. • Successful experience in working in a culturally diverse organization. Preferred: • Clinical experience in diving medicine and HBO. • Supervisory experience in Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine. • Teaching experience in a medical school clinical program. • Experience in supervising a medical interdisciplinary clinical service. Skills/Knowledge Minimum: • Good written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: • Familiarity with the medical community. • Knowledge of diving medicine and HBO. • Certified scuba diver.
