The Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Brooklyn offers a unique opportunity for newly graduated surgeons to hone their skills and acquire the confidence to transition to independent practice. The Surgical Hospitalist program exposes the new surgeon to complex surgical disease and decision making processes in general, vascular, thoracic, urologic, gynecologic, head and neck, and orthopedic surgery specialties.

Under supervision of surgical attendings, the surgical hospitalist will:

  1. Assist in surgery

  2. Perform bedside procedures (thoracostomy, central line, wound care)

  3. Evaluate and manage patients in inpatient, ED, and ICU settings

  4. participate in weekly educational conferences participate in hospital QA/QI initiatives when the opportunity arises


  1. BC/BE surgeon. Chief residents welcome to apply

  2. active NYS license

  3. active DEA number

  4. current BLS/ACLS certificates

Board certified Family Practice Physicians are also welcome to apply.
