Capable clinician, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. Consistently provides effective direct care, as part of the interdisciplinary team, to a variety of complex patients. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a refined skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the health care team. Seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Assumes a beginning leadership role but seeks mentoring in this process.

Consider joining a young and growing Department within the University of Virginia Medical Center. Our patients are in great need for an enthusiastic and compionate nurse to ist the Plastic Surgery team in treatment of our patients with wounds and who need hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We have a wide diverse patient population who come from 100’s of miles away to seek treatment with our Plastic Surgeons and we hope to recruit someone who is as pionate about their care as we are. You will work side by side with our surgeons focusing on patient care, expanding knowledge and skills. We are a teaching hospital and we are dedicated to teaching our staff as well. We also work closely with other departments who refer patients to our team and are looking for someone who could prepare and conduct in-service educational programs for our referral base.

A strong candidate will be excited about providing effective direct care to our wound patients, working as part of an interdisciplinary team and helping to facilitate the best care possible for patients requiring wound care and hyperbaric treatment. We encourage the nurse we hire to ume a leadership position from the beginning but will provide mentoring and support as well. Advanced Practice Clinician Support

Position Compensation Range: $26.22 - $43.40 Hourly

Previous wound care experience and/or certification required

This job description integrates the ANA 2015 Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, Third Edition  and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (ANA, 2015), and the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Position Compensation Range: $26.22 - $43.40 Hourly

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Hyperbaric and Ambulatory clinic wound care
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
