Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) - Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine (GALVESTON/HOUSTON)




Under the direction of the Medical Director of the  Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Department and the nurse manager of the UHM Clinic, you will:

  • Operate the hyperbaric chambers that deliver hyperbaric oxygen to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Medicine Physician

  • Provide safe operations of of the hyperbaric oxygen chambers for patients in accordance with established policies and guidelines

  • Responsibly operate and maintain hyperbaric chambers and related equipment as per manufacturing recommendations

  • Maintain daily, monthly, quarterly and annual logs as recommended by the manufacturing and facility policies and procedures

  • Serve as a the onsite Safety Officer under the supervision of the Safety Director or serves as the Safety Director for the department upon completion of an approved Safety Director course

  • Serve as the point person for essment of materials that are appropriate for use in and around hyperbaric chambers


  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Completed the approved Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS, National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT), or Department of Defense introductory course “Introductory team training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy operations” pre/post hire.

  • Existing Safety Director training course completion (Will be required if not already completed).

Preferred Qualifications:  Three (3) years of related experience. Completion of Hyperbaric Chambers Acrylics course training a plus.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS (Required): Certification as a hyperbaric technician (CHT); BLS certification; Completes initial/annual skills check lists as required by the facility  NOTE:  CHS (“Certified Hyperbaric Specialist”) designation is not accepted.
