Diving Medical Physicians and Examiners List

It is the intent of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society to supply the public with information on physicians who have successfully completed approved courses for diving medicine. You have the right to contact each physician to request any documentation necessary to verify their current status. This information is subject to change.

Physicians Training in Diving Medicine

The goal of the Physicians Training in Diving Medicine course is to train physicians in recognizing and treating diving medical emergencies.

The physicians on this list have successfully completed the prescribed course of study and examination for an advanced level certification as a "Diving Medical Physician" by the UHMS.

This course is currently approved by the Diving Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC) and the European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC) as a DMAC/EDTCmed Level 2D - Medical management of diving accidents and illnesses (Diving Medical Physician).  UHMS' DMAC Level 2D approval started in 2012, any courses before this is not DMAC Level 2D recognized.

 


Medical Examiner of Divers

The goal of this course is to prepare physicians to examine professional/commercial, sport, research and other related public service divers, and determine their fitness to dive.

The physicians on this list have been provided information necessary to perform fitness to dive examinations and have successfully completed the prescribed course of study and examination for an advanced level certification as a "Diving Medical Examiner" by UHMS.

This course has been formally approved by the Diving Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC) and the European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC) as a DMAC/EDTCmed Level 1 - Medical assessment of divers (Medical Examiner of Divers).

** Renewal for the Medical Examiners of Divers Course is required every five (5) years for certification **
