Description

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center located in the Texas Medical Center, is seeking applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Professor position in the Division of Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care within the Department of Internal Medicine.

UTHealth Houston offers both inpatient and outpatient services at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center and TIRR Memorial Hermann. The division currently comprises three clinical providers: one MD and two NPs, with additional support from others holding active privileges. The division is involved in teaching at all levels of the medical school, providing a highly interactive environment with significant growth potential


Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivering exceptional clinical care to patients, including diagnosing and managing complex cases, providing individualized treatment plans, and monitoring patient progress. This also involves acting as a sponsoring physician to Nurse Practitioners for both inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, leading by example, and fostering a learning environment that encourages growth and development in the field.
  • Participating in research activities, which include designing and conducting studies, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at conferences.
  • Participating in committees and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and other administrative duties.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent.
  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
  • American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine certification or eligibility statement.
  • Board certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.
  • Strong clinical background in hyperbaric medicine and wound care
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care and academic advancement.

Additional Information:
