Description

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center situated at the Texas Medical Center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position as an Associate Professor/Professor of Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care in the Department of Internal Medicine. This is a leadership position.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) has inpatient and outpatient services at Memorial Herman Hospital - Texas Medical Center and Memorial Hermann TIRR. The team currently has 3 clinical providers: 1 MD and 2 NPs designated with support from others with active privileges. The division teaches at all levels of the medical school. This is a highly interactive environment with tremendous growth potential.

Position Key Accountabilities:  

The selected candidate will contribute to the Internal Medicine Department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through high-level responsibilities: research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services. The selected candidate will possess a strong clinical background in hyperbaric medicine and wound care, demonstrated leadership skills, and commitment to excellence in patient care and academic advancement.

  • Delivering exceptional clinical care to patients, including diagnosing and managing complex cases, providing individualized treatment plans, and monitoring patient progress. This also involves acting as a sponsoring physician to Nurse Practitioners for both inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, leading by example, and fostering a learning environment that encourages growth and development in the field.
  • Participating in research activities, which include designing and conducting studies, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at conferences.
  • Participating in committees and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and other administrative duties.

Additional Information:

This is an exempt, full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403(b), and a retirement plan. Only applications received through the online system will be considered. 

Qualifications: 

  • Associate Professor appointment for at least two years.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent
  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
  • American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine certification or eligibility statement.
  • Board certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.
