Description

The HBO Technician performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy on approved patients.  Apply technical and operational knowledge to support the operation, maintenance and safety of a multi-place hyperbaric (HBO) chamber and other hyperbaric support systems, participating in patient care and assisting with all aspects of the HBO/Wound Care Center.

Education Requirement: 

High School graduate or equivalent, required. Successful completion of an approved EMT, Paramedic, or LPN program required.

Associates of Applied Science, preferred.

Experience Requirement: 

Two (2) years of EMT, EMT Intermediate, Paramedic or LPN experience required.  Experience in commercial/military/civilian diving preferred. 

Licensure/Certification Requirement:

Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or LPN license required.

Diver Medical Technician certification or Certification as Hyperbaric Technician required within eighteen (18) months of hire.

Current CPR certification required.

Supervision Provided by this Job:

  • There are no lead or supervisory responsibilities associated with this role.

Physical Demands/Conditions:

Subject to hyperbaric chamber diving hazards.  Lifting, positioning and transferring patients, supplies and equipment.  Prolonged standing and walking; Heavy Work - exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects, (May be later defined as "with assistance" or "without assistance.")
