White Plains Hospital Center, a 292 bed Award-winning Hospital , located 25 miles from Manhattan, is currently seeking a Board Certified Director Wound Care to join the Department of Cancer Care


This position will be clinical/ administrative and the successful candidate would be part of our busy and thriving clinical practice performing a wide range of procedures including interventional oncology, pain management, uterine artery embolization, GI/GU intervention, TIPS, PVE, venous access, peripheral vascular disease and CT/US guided biopsy, drainages and ablation treatments. The IR division also has an active inpatient service and outpatient clinic and consult service.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must possess a DO, M.D.. and have completed an ACGME accredited residency. The successful applicants will also be ACGME accredited fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology

  • Must have active board certification in and ability to obtain New York State medical licensure .

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar title or relevant experience is required


SCHEDULE



  • Full/40 hour work week

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:


Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors


Key roles/responsibilities of the Medical Director:



  1. Ensuring Safety/Compliance of the Unit.

    • Working with members of the clinical and administrative team to ensure Joint Commission readiness and other compliance requirements

    • Ensuring provider coverage of the Wound Care Center during all operating hours




  1. Facilitating Operational Efficiency In the Unit

    • Collaborate with Manager to manage patient flow and support operational improvements

    • Provide ongoing direction to staff with regards to operational efficiency




Serve as a physician leader responsible for the clinical, operational and financial results of the Wound Care Center



  1. Clinical Evaluation and Management



  • Responsible for providing clinical services, including essing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating patients, within scope of practice

  • Change treatment as needed in conjunction with consultant or community providers, as applicable

  • Serve as liaison with affiliated medical institutions for services required, such as hospitalization and emergency medical services

  • Provide operative care for patient wound related conditions, including pre- and post-operative management

  • Submit visit charges as appropriate

  • Ensure appropriate HBO chamber quality and safety, including appropriate documentation of approved indications, physician supervision requirements, and presence of appropriately trained safety director appointed for the Hyperbaric Unit



  1. PI Initiatives

    • Collaborate and participate in PI projects related to clinical outcomes, throughput and Patient Experience

    • Support collection of PI data and evidence-based practice with clinical and administrative staff to improve quality indicators and outcomes




  1. Education

    • Inservices and coordinates inservices on new treatments for clinical staff and community, in conjunction with Wound Care Manager and clinical team

    • Provide education visits for patients and family members

    • Disseminate QI and Safety information from hospital initiatives

    • Provide regular formal presentations to various audiences (i.e., medical staff meetings, hospital department meetings, grand rounds presentations, local medical and community organizations, service clubs, etc.) to enhance visibility of the Wound Care Center and support local medical and community education and awareness

    • Engage in self-development through participation with professional ociations and other training required or offered




  1. Program growth and awareness



  • Actively schedule and participate in one-on-one discussions about the wound care program with primary care and surgical specialties to facilitate and maintain patient referrals

  • Build appropriate relationships with interdisciplinary specialties to ensure appropriate and timely consultative patient care needs

  • Act as spokesperson for wound care program services when local media opportunities arise



  1. Leadership



  • Serve as role model and mentor to staff and Wound Care physicians

  • Be available to the clinical staff, as well as collaborating physicians and clinical administration for clinical and administrative planning

  • Collaborate and problem-solve with hospital leaders and staff

  • Provide feedback, mentoring, discipline and evaluation of Wound Care physicians

  • Manage physician scheduling and coverage for clinical continuity
